A Welcome message from the pastor
It is our desire that you feel comfortable here at First Century church. We are a church that is reflective of the full Gospel message where God is allowed to be God. In other words, man and his outlined plan are secondary to what God wants to do in a service. This requires an atmosphere where God can move and the gifts of the Spirit can operate freely in the service. We pray that you will receive a blessing while present with us. However, make your self comfortable and ask God to use you to be a blessing to others. After all, we are called to minister to one another in the body of Christ. So that there are no surprises, below is some information on what to expect during one of our services.
First Century Church is a Spirit led full Gospel Pentecostal church. While some Pentecostal churches may have slightly different beliefs, they typically all share the same core values. For instance, we believe salvation is only possible through Jesus, and that he is going to return to the earth again one day. Pentecostals believe in doctors and receiving medical treatment, we also believe in divine healing. We believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible. We also believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, which results in speaking in tongues and the interpretation of tongues. We also take part in the sacraments of water baptism (immersion) and Holy Communion. At First Century Church, communion is open to all who have surrendered their life to Christ. It is not based on whether you are a member of this church or attend here regularly.
Worship: You will be treated to anointed contemporary Christian songs as well as the classics of years ago. You will experience a wide variety of music ranging from hearty to reverent singing as the music sets the tempo. Feel free to express yourself as the Spirit leads by standing and or the raising or waving of hands, clapping to dancing the two step. If you are moved to tears of joy, please do not feel embarrassed and let God minister to you. Furthermore, if you feel a desire to go up front to kneel and pray or worship we encourage you to do so. If you desire someone to pray for you, please let us know before you leave the church. We are here for you. May we never shut the lights off and close the doors on anyone seeking God or seeking prayer.
As God directs, you may hear someone in the congregation speak audibly a prophecy. Don’t be startled. This is a God given gift to some believers, for the church body for their strengthening, encouragement, and comfort. I Cor. 14:3. In addition you may hear someone in the congregation speak audibly in a tongue (a foreign language). Don’t be anxious, wait for the interpretation. This will come either from the person who spoke the tongue or another person who has the gift of interpretation of tongues. Here again, these gifts are for the strengthening of the church. The apostle Paul devotes the whole 14th chapter of 1 Corinthians with the proper and orderly way in which prophecy and tongues are to be practiced in the church.
